Facial Rejuvenation and Face Lift

Facial Rejuvenation and Face Lift

This group of operations aim at anti-aging, for which age of the patient, intervention needed by the patient and facial analysis are crucial. Face lift operations used to be merely a skin lift operation that failed to respect anatomic changes or support mechanisms on the face. Luckily, general approach to facial rejuvenation operations today evaluates all underlying layers of the face, starting from the skin extending until the skeleton structure. Techniques currently in use for face lift operations are as follows;

-Classical Facelift/ Rhytidectomy

-MACS Lift

-SMAS Facelift

-Subperiosteal Facelift

-Profound Plan Facelift

-Endoscopic Facelift

-Methods of Thread Facelift/Happy Lift/Organic Lift/Silhouette Lift

All these techniques intend to eliminate saggy look that is responsible for looking older. Recently, these techniques have been wisely combined with lipofilling, lipofilling enriched from stem cells, laser resurfacing, peeling, liposuction etc. for better results as they lifted the face but somehow failed to promise plumpness. Lipofilling is extruded from abdomen or hips with the help of cannulae by way of aspiration of subcutaneous fat accumulations without incisions, followed by centrifuge or stem cell benefication procedures, and the procedure is finalised by subcutaneous injection in the intended area or onto deep-seated wrinkles that cannot be eliminated with facelift. I resort to lipofilling technique simply because it boosts the facial structure for a fresher, rejuvenated and bright look. The technique is capable of helping the patient to look younger by 10 and even up to 20 years, and slow down the aging process thanks to stem cell content. The lipofilling procedure only can be applied under local anaesthesia without performing a face lift operation, however the patient should be eligible for that. Lipofilling may not be sufficient for patients with a saggy skin and exposed facial wrinkles.

Before Surgery

Once the problematic parts of the face are determined in consultation with the patient, a facial analysis is performed. I ask my patients to bring a photograph from their younger times as it helps to see how all anatomic structures (eyebrows, nose, cheeks, upper eyelid line, forehead line) that have surrendered to aging and gravity in the course of time used to be. This prevents abnormal looks due to extreme lifting dosage. The youth photograph is a target I set for myself, so I endeavour to give a youthful appearance to my patient accordingly. As in the case of all surgical operations, smokers should stop smoking at least for 4 weeks before surgery, and they are strongly recommended against it at least for 2 months after surgery.

During Surgery

Surgery can be performed under local or general anaesthesia depending on the severity of deformity. Surgery time ranges between 2 and 2.5 hours depending on the number of procedures applicable to the face. This is mostly a simple technique apart from the stages that demand ultimate care and attention to avoid nerve injuries while resorting to SMAS lift technique, which is highly preferred for permanent results.

After Surgery

Facial mask and cold compress are used to prevent puffiness on the face. For the avoidance of doubt, durability of the results varies depending on the technique selected, and it often ranges between 5 and 10 years of time. Patients can turn back to their routine in 1 week following the surgery, showers are allowed 2 days after surgery.
